We offer different levels of editing depending on your needs. We can check for subject–verb agreement, correct article usage, apply punctuation rules, fix inconsistencies, and check for the appropriateness of words. Depending on the extent you want us to edit your manuscript, we can also restructure sentences to improve conciseness, coherence, and clarity without superseding your writing style. We can also incorporate specific instructions required by your journal or any style you may want us to follow. (Please contact us at bbs@bluebook-solutions.com and we will send you a structured presentation on the different levels of editing that we offer to our clients.)
Our layout artists and typesetters use InDesign as a typesetting tool. We can develop a new template for you or work on an existing one that you are already using.
Our editors and typesetters are well versed in various editing and typesetting styles:
- Chicago Manual of Style (CMS)
- American Medical Association Manual of Style (AMA)
- Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA)
- Scientific Style and Format: The CBE Manual for Authors, Editors, and Publishers
- The ACS Style Guide
- Client-specific style guide. In the event that no standard guide is available, our editors can study a client-supplied guide or create one based on the clients’ previously published materials.
If you so desire, we can also perform content editing or fact-checking at a very small additional cost. Fact-checking is validating factual assertions in articles or manuscripts to determine their veracity and correctness. This task entails general knowledge, but more importantly, it requires conducting quick and proper research. Among the benefits of submitting or publishing a checked copy is that it averts serious, sometimes costly, problems, that is, lawsuits and discreditation. Fact-checking is primarily useful in catching accidental mistakes; however, this does not guarantee against journalistic frauds.
